Inside this book
In postwar Japan, Kazuko watches the world she once knew slowly disappear. Born into an aristocratic family that has fallen into poverty, she must adapt to a rapidly changing society while searching for meaning and a new place in the world.
A landmark of modern Japanese literature, The Setting Sun explores social change, loss, identity and the struggle to create a new life after the collapse of an old world.
